New concert series: Merel Chamber Series

We are thrilled to announce our new Merel Chamber Series – three sets of concerts in Zürich and Lucerne. In the spirit of our autumnal festival “Zwischentöne”, we offer fascinating programs combining illustrious guest artists, new music and favorites from the string quartet literature. Venues include the newly reopened Kleiner Saal of the Tonhalle, Zürich and the Marianischer Saal in Lucerne. The first season’s concerts could hardly be more varied and will include one of the first important string quartets of Haydn, romantic gems of Brahms and Dvořák as well as recently commissioned works of Roland Moser and Gérard Zinsstag.

It was a great pleasure to perform at the fantastic Wigmore Hall in London again. Here a few impressions:

A nice review about the last edition of the Zwischentöne Festival

“Intimate conversations and a fascinating voice”

…Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Phantasy Quintet, with the Merel Quartet’s profoundly expressive sound supported by Eivind Ringstad on viola, prepared the way for “On Wenlock Edge” by the same composer. Here Saskia Giorgini and the Merel Quartet accompanied Ian Bostridge as equal partners, creating a sound canvas in all imaginable shades of color.
